Review 12/29/2009

I was a customer of RealtyTrac since 2008. Their rep contacted me in August 2009 to renew the service, and I specifically told him that I would not renew. He offered me a discount if I renewed, but I repeated to him that I would not renew. I maintained a log of this phone call in my contact management system so I knew the time, date, person and subject matter discussed.
My accountant recently advised me that RealtyTrac has been charging my credit card $49.95 per month since August. I contacted RealtyTrac today and spoke to a rep, and then to a 'manager.' Both persons agreed their records indicated that, indeed, I had not renewed the service, but they also said, even though I did not renew the service, I did not say that I wanted to 'cancel' the service. To my way of thinking, that comment was utterly ridiculous. I asked for the company's full address information and the name of their general manager. They told me there was no general manager at that address and then gave me their address in bits and pieces...meaning, I had to ask for each part of their address..street number...city...zip, etc. RealtyTrac did tell me they would cancel my service effective today and send me that information through an email, could not guarantee a full refund but would put in a request of sorts. After terminated my call to them, I contacted my credit card company who corrected the situation immediately, refunded all charges and blocked RealtyTrac's access to my account.
With regards to their service, in the beginning the service seemed alright, but as time went by, I realized that some of the foreclosed listings were not up to date. I had driven by too many homes (in my area) posted as 'foreclosed' on their service when in fact, the homes were currently occupied. I realize they list pre-foreclosures, auctions, foreclosures, etc., but these were specifically listed as bank owned foreclosures.
What I don't understand, given the number of complaints on this company and the nature of complaints listed, why does the BBB still rate them as A+? am I reading the BBB rating incorrectly?
