RealtyTrac was brought to my attention last week when a couple came by my house to inquire about the listing they found on RealtyTrac. I looked up the listing on their website and there it was, with a nice aerial view of my property. The problem is my house is NOT " bank owned" nor has it been foreclosed on. When I contacted RealtyTrac's customer service to have the ad removed they could not explain to me where they got my information. Other than from the bank filings. The only thing I could think of was the fact I received an equity loan back in early 2007. Apparently, when the bank filed the mortgage paperwork RealtyTrac then got the information and listed my property as "bank owned". I requested they remove the listing and was told it would take 24 hours it has been 4 days and the listing is still there. The couple who came by my house said this was the second false listing they had received after having paid RealtyTrac for the information. RealtyTrac is knowing charging people for false property listings.
