Pool Remodel and paver remodel and additional paver square footage
|
I recently had my pool refinished and old charahoochi (not sure if I spelled it right) covered with pavers. Parkwood did the pavers first and then finished the diamond brite last. When Parkwood came out to do the diamond brite on the pool I paid them the remaining balance of $8,200 with a remaining balance of $500 that would be done once all the final touches were completed.
Unfortunately, Parkwood used thin pavers (1" inch) in new areas that did not have pre-existing concrete and the next day, after that $8200 payment, with a little rain my thin pavers started sinking immediately (in the areas with no concrete underneath). Parkwood sent out their crew a few days later to repair the pavers, however, all the thin pavers without concrete underneath, move when you step on them.
After doing some research and talking to a few contractors, for new areas with only dirt underneath, you are supposed to use standard pavers and not the 1" kind. The thin pavers are reserved for remodeling old concrete and hard surfaces.
Needless to say, with only a $500 payment remaining out of a $16,750 job, Parkwood pools Dave Adams and his supervisor Jumar have been short on customer service and long on responding to my issue. Currently, all the areas where they used thin pavers over dirt, the pavers shift when you step on them. In the areas where there is concrete underneath, they work beautifully. There is also an area where they used some of my old thick pavers over dirt and that part of the job is amazing and holding up very well.
So needless to say I hope Parkwood pools steps up and corrects the issues. I have reached out to Bill, the owner, and hope to hear from him soon. After paying $16,250, I really hope this is correct. I will update this post of things change.
