I will never buy from this dealership!
My 21 yr old daughter had been looking at one of the cars they had listed for sale and spoke several times with a salesman about the vehicle. Conversations went on for about a week about this same car. These was no mistaking which car she was referring to - the details were in the original email and the sales person referred to those details in conversations.
After about a week of talking, the salesman said to come on down and she wouldn't be disappointed on the deal they could make for the car. She lives about two hours away so after some final questions about the vehicle and pricing, she decided to drive down and asked me to go with.
We arrived in the evening (maybe 8:00pm?) and were immediately asked to complete the credit app. (RED FLAG #1). We asked to see the car but the salesman said he'd have to get it from out back so to save time since it was late, he asked to complete the form. Their Privacy form said they WILL share info with 3rd parties but offered no opt-out so we just crossed that section out and said NO.
He also asked for the check for the down payment. (RED FLAG #2) We said we haven't made a deal yet nor seen the car so no way were we giving any money. What was he thinking?
The salesman showed up with a completely different car. Same model, but different color (grey), options, mileage, price, etc. Looks to me like there was prior front-end damage and it had quite a few scratches. (I brought a super bright flashlight knowing we'd be looking at a car at night.) Anyway - it wasn't the car she wanted. We said we wanted to see the car she's been talking about all week and he said he'd be right back.
He then double-checked..."That was the black one, automatic, right". Yes it was, just like she said earlier in the day.
A few minutes later he comes back with the sales manager who asks us to sit down. He states there must have been some "misunderstanding" because the one she wanted was sold "a couple days ago." We were furious! The car was still listed on several web sites as being available and we spoke earlier that day about the specific car before driving two hours!
I started demanding that this could not have been a mistake - the car is still listed for sale on the web sites and that she spoke to the salesman just a few hours ago. I believed this must have been a bait-and-switch scam and they just lost a car sale.
I asked for business cards but the sales manager would not give me one (he said he didn't have any. Yeah right! I've NEVER heard of a car salesman/manager without a business card.) I asked for his name and he said "Joe" (or Joel) but refused to give me his last name. I wonder what he was afraid of?
SO she is back to searching for cars and regardless of the deal being offered, will certainly not look at ANYTHING offered by this company and we'll certainly tell all of our friends and family not to go there as well. We did file a complaint with BBB and have other actions in mind.
