Looking for a base 2010 Expedition XLT... searched online - found Huntington Beach Ford - Wednesday, August 20- Their web site shows
Sticker $39,070...$35,535 + options (3d seat, 18 inch OWL wheels, premium sound) = $39,070
Emailed internet guy...John Morgan...he comes back says "wait for weekend we are offering $12,000 in rebates!" Sends me same sticker as above... I reply... "For $27,000 I will bring cash tomorrow...!"
He replies "oh no you gotta buy Ford Credit and price does not include "dealer accessories"...I look on their web site NEXT DAY - Thursday, Aug 21 - SAME CAR, SAME VIN now listed at $44,869!!? WTF?
I send him email "whats going on?" He says "Come on in"
I walk in Aug 24 at 7:45 pm - Morgan quotes me after all "rebates" = $34, 360. I say ...where's the $27,000?" He says "You don't get $12k rebates - only $10,500!" OK I say - that's $29,360 - WHY 34K???
He says "Dealer Accessories!" I say "What, overnight you added accessories over and above the options already listed?" He says sure did - they changed Fords OWL 18 inch regular tires to 24 inch chrome - and added $5,655. They also added LoJack + $795 - hiked up price by $6,000!!!
I say - "I don't want them - take them off give me original tires"... I wait...New Floor guy Nick comes in...says "can't do it..." "why not?..."What do we do with the chromes?(HUH?) I say - "Put them on another frickin' Ford you got 20 of them laying around!" He goes off to "talk" to Finance guy... Comes back
"Can't do it... but will give you half off...I say "take out low jack..." "can't do it but will give you half off....
I say I don't want all this crap - this is called bait and switch...you ever hear of California Consumer Law 17500.5??? Now they are pissed - calls internet guy back...The Internet guy looks me straight in the eye and says "I mentioned "Dealer extras - I'M COVERED!!!" - and then they tell me...
"Hey you wanna buy the car? Its late our Finance guy wants to go home to see his kid...???!"
I say "Hey I got 2 kids at home and you just wasted 2 hours of my time - You gonna honor your written quotes and sell me the car?
The floor guy Nick gets up and says "No, WE'RE DONE!" ...and leaves! No hand shake no nothing..
The Finance guy gets up walks over to his desk, throws the file down and puts on his jacket...
The old Internet fart just slithers away....
My mouth drops...
I get up say "Good Customer Service guys...no wonder I never bought a single one of my 7 Fords from you..." I should have known better - their repair department failed to fix my air conditioning 4 times on my current car - why? 'Cause they wanted me to pay $1200 for a new one...CROOKS LIKE I HAVE NEVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! AFTER 11 CARS OF WHICH LAST 7 WERE FORDS!!!
DOESN'T FORD CARE??? WHERE ARE THOSE FAMOUS SERVICE QUESTIONNAIRES?
I BOUGHT MY 2010 PRIUS FROM SOUTH COAST TOYOTA ON JUNE 1 IN A RECORD 45 MINUTES - AND GOT 3 CALLS FROM TOYOTA MOTORS ASKING HOW DID THE DEALER TREAT ME????
Never mind - I am in Dealer Withdrawal ...
