Lee Cox from Budget Van Lines sent me an email after my wife put our info on a mailing list for our upcoming move. The Cheapest way to move from VA to UT that we had found up until then was with Penske, approx. $1,900 (including truck, gas, tow dolley, and tax). I always thought those "you pack, we load and drive" companies were way expensive, but Budget was actually a lot cheaper than Penske. Lee sent me an inventory list, I filled it out, and we were quoted approx. $1,100. AND THEY LOADED AND MOVED EVERYTHING ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR US!!! Sweet! In the end we paid about $1,800 total with Budget too, because we grossly underestimated how much stuff we had. But hey, they loaded, they moved, they unloaded, and we saved a hundred bucks in the end! My advice? Overestimate (instead of under) your inventory. Be nice to the drivers, even though they might not speak english clearly (all our stuff arrived in perfect condition). Follow them to the weighing station if you want proof of the weight of your inventory... that was the only thing I really didn't like... no one will respond to me with any verifiable proof of the weight of our inventory. But, like I said before, we saved money and they did all the work. I liked Budget Van Lines, despite all the negative complaints and their F bbb rating.
