I have had an excellent experience with this company and its owner Steve Sullin. First of all his pricing was very fair, he met with me at the beginning of the build process and bid the job. He stayed in contact with me throughout the project and when it came time for his portion of the work to be done he was right on time. I bought the flooring from an internet company. There were two types of flooring: one was an engineered floor to be installed on the first level. The other was 3/4" solid oak for the second floor to be laid over the wood subfloor. The first floor came out perfectly as did the second floor but over time the moisture from the subfloor worked its way into the new oak flooring and caused cupping. I brought in an outside expert with the understanding that if Steve's job was the problem he would pay the $500. to the expert and if it were the fault of the wood, I would pay for the examination.
It turned out that due to a faulty read on the moisture reader Steve ate the fee. No questions asked, he just wrote the check. We followed the instructions to let the floors breathe and Hei (Steve's installation crew cheif) removed the moldings. Steve contacted me every 3 months in order to determine if the floors were dry enough to re-sand, surface, and refinish. Finally they were. Now my wife and I needed to vacate our house for 5 days which we kept putting off. Putting off that is until my daughter's college graduation. Steve paid all expenses for us to move to a hotel which worked out perfectly in that I planned a trip to Texas for the graduation. We were to be gone over the weekend and Steve and Hei accomodated our request to do the job during that time. Steve hired professional movers to move our furniture and professional cleaning crews to make the place ready for our return. The floors came out beautifully, very smooth and even, Hei replaced the molding he had removed, he also fixed a ding on the custom built stairway that was done by a house moving company when we first took possession of our home (not Steve's movers). He also refinished our front door threshold that had lost it's finish (not Steve's work but the stairway finisher's mistake). The house looks beautiful, no scratches on walls, furniture, the place was left in immaculate condition and best of all Steve's attitude was completely positive during the entire process. The fact is that wood is a living breathing form of floor covering. Sometimes there are problems in the build process. The best you can hope for is to deal with people of high integrity.
I found Steve Sullin to be such a man. His service before, during and after the project was stellar. He surprised, and delighted my wife and I and I heartily recommend him and his company for all your floor needs. If you would like to discuss it with me please contact Steve and he will forward your number to me and I will call you back.
Sincerely Yours,
Jerry Greenberg
