What is the nature of your transaction with Liberty Unsecured? If you are looking for a loan that's targeted for people with bad credit watch out and do some homework. Are they telling you they can get you a great loan even though you have bad credit? Are there any any fees associated with getting a loan upfront? Our report shows they have been in business 2 years and have 2 complaints on record:

The BBB provides some Industry Tips for advance fee loans:
The scenario is all too common: a consumer receives a call or e-mail or sees an advertisement for a pre-approved loan or credit card and calls to receive an application. The company says yes, they can offer you a loan regardless of your credit history, if you pay an up-front "insurance," "security," or "processing," fee in advance. Too often, those with bad credit - who can least afford it - end up losing their up-front fee and never hear from the company again.
According to the Telemarketing Sales Rule, if someone guarantees or suggests that there is a strong chance they can get or arrange a loan or other form of credit for you, it's against the law to ask you to pay - or accept payment - for their services until you get your loan or credit.
The Better Business Bureau, along with the Federal Trade Commission, offers the following points to keep in mind before you respond to ads that promise easy credit, regardless of your credit history:
Legitimate lenders never "guarantee" or say that you are likely to get a loan or a credit card before you apply, especially if you have bad credit, no credit, or had a bankruptcy.
If you apply for a real estate loan, it is accepted and common practice for lenders to request payment for a credit report or appraisal. However, legitimate lenders never ask you to pay for processing your application.
Never give your credit card account number, bank account information, or Social Security number over the telephone or Internet unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.
If you don't have the offer in hand - or confirmed in writing - and you are asked to pay, don't do it. It's fraud and it's against the law.
If you think you've been a victim of an advance fee loan, contact your local Better Business Bureau, your local consumer protection agency, or state Attorney General.

Patty,
Before you sign on with a debt settlement company, do a search here on the Ask the Community main page and look at some of the many responses and inquiries on this subject.
Use the Google search box above the questions - it's an internal search of this forum and quite useful.

The BBB's history overall with debt settlement companies has not been good. Most people who complain about these companies state that their debts weren't negotiated, they were told to stop making payments, and the result is that they're in worse shape than when they started. Many are sued and are forced to file bankruptcy to rid themselves of the lawsuits. Debt settlement companies have a good sales pitch that makes the program seem like a no brainer but unfortunately it's a mirage. This industry is rife with companies using predatory fee models.
Debt settlement is a topic the BBB of the Southland has posted about on our Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/BBB-of-the-Southland/117568537756
You should check out the proposed rules on fees and disclosures that the FTC is considering for the debt settlement industry because of the rampant abuse. The Federal Trade Commission issued a press release about these on July 30th, 2009: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/07/tsr.shtm. In fact, these rules will most likely shut down the industry as it stands today.
Good luck with your situation.

I submitted a loan application with liberty unsecured about 5 months ago, and I spoke with a loan officer there who was very helpful. He gave me a preapproval in the amount $28,500 with an "approximate" payment of $570 a month for 5 years. He then stated that when he submitted my application for funding there was a problem with something on my credit report that was holding back the loan from going through. He then referred me to a credit repair company.at a discounted price. The credit repair company did an amazing job of not only removing the problem on my credit report that was holding back my loan from going through, but also removed a lot of things off my report... my credit score went up from 640 to a 720! After they removed the problem off my credit report my loan went through 2 weeks later and got an interest rate of 6.75% and a monthly payment of $574 over a 5 year period. Liberty Unsecured was very helpful for me, not only did I get the money to start my landscaping business but they even reimbursed me my money that I spent with the credit repair company.

After going from loan company to loan company getting rejected each time, i figured trying this company out couldn't hurt. When i first called they went over information just to make sure everything i submitted previously on their website was accurate. The woman i spoke to was very polite and helpful, after speaking to her she transferred me to a 'loan specialist'. The 'loan specialist' went over the loan application with me to find out if what i was looking for was feasible. He then submitted me and that i was approved. The phone call only lasted 10 minutes tops and i was already confirmed to get my loan. He told me it should only take 3-4 weeks, and 2 weeks later i recieved it! I could'nt be any happier with them getting me my loan, and not having to deal with any more scam artists posing as legitimate companies. Im confused as to why people are saying this is a scam, when it's been nothing but a breeze compared to every other loan company i spoke to. Definately an A+ service!

Hey there Bill and Jack,Do You guys work for them? I would have to say yes.
Funny,,all the Loans are for $28500?
Man Bill you went from a 640 to a 720,Now this is strange you had a 640 score?
Why didn't you mention the Credit company that got you the 720 score?
Hey how much did you pay to get your credit fixed?
I like this quote from you
"He then referred me to a credit repair company.at a discounted price." They don't give Discounts. For a 720 score don't you think 6.75% interest rate is somewhat High.
Hey work on your Grammar a bit.
Oh and Jack you say you spoke with a women and she referred you to a loan Agent,That's funny they have NO women answering the phones.
I can see why you are confused,Liberty doesn't make Loans!
You have been turned down by numerous Loan Company's But Libertyunsecured gave you a Loan. Do you really expect anyone to buy this Crap?
What some so-called company's will go to to get their image improved.
Are you to aware that they have a D- Rating with the BBB,

NO TRUTHFUL COMPANY WILL ASK FOR MONEY UPFRONT. Ask yourself this question, if they can get you financing then why would they charge you a upfront gee. Why wouldn't a company have a fee in the back end unless they thought you may not be approved. There are plenty of places that can assist you in obtaining a loan. I would suggest trying places like lifehousefunding.com or just google search unsecuredpersonalloanhelp.com or something like that.
There are tons of lenders that are available to the average consumer and most can't be found online, but you should never pay for a list of lenders. If you go with this company make sure you only pay via credit card so you can dispute the charges if it doesnt work out. If any company tells you that you have been approved asked to see the bank paper work first. Then contact the bank directly and ask them if you have been approved. NO BANK REQUIRES UP FRONT FEE DUE TO CREDIT ISSUES OR CONCERNS.
I am an advocate that has seen way to many people GET ripped off BY SCAM COMPANIES THAT CHARGE UP FRONT FEES. DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, ASK ANY LOCAL BANK IF IT SOUND RIGHT.
Find a company that will help you and that only has a small fee once you are approved.

Avoid any company that asked you for money upfront. If you are looking for a reputable company that works for you with 100% no upfront cost, go to www.lifehousefunding.com They give work on your behalf and will help you obtain any loan you are looking to obtain. Their rates start at 6.9%. There are no up front cost what so ever. Check them out I did and loved them. Whatever you do, never pay up front cost. If they can truly help you, they will collect a fee when they produce the results.
